Durham Outlook Temporarily Closes to Protect our Community against the Spread of COVID-19

On March 12, 2020, the Chief Medical Officer of Public Health for Ontario, Dr. David Williams, recommended the immediate suspension of all significant events and public gatherings to eliminate the spread of COVID-19. Our top priority is the health and safety of our patrons, volunteers and staff. Furthermore, as a socially responsible community organization we have determined that it is important that we help with public efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19. Durham Outlook has suspended operations effective close of business today, Monday, March 16th, 2020.

The ongoing health and safety of our community, volunteers and patrons is our most important consideration in this difficult decision.

Our current programs are being postponed and we will reopen once the situation is safe enough to do so. We appreciate that this will be disappointing to many of our volunteers, patrons and donors of our programs that we enjoy accommodating, but our communities’ health and welfare comes first.

We are currently working with the other community organizations within Oshawa to keep open a food bank to send our patrons and members in need during this time. We will update everyone once an official location has been decided.

We ask for your understanding and patience during this unprecedented time and as we work through the logistics of this temporary closure.

Please note: We will also continue to monitor social media and update our page as this COVID-19 situation unfolds.
