Khalil El-Khatib
Khalil is a full-time professor in the Networking and IT Security program at Ontario Tech University. He is also the director of the Institute for Cyber Security and Resilient Systems. He has worked in the past at Western University, the National Research Council of Canada, Nortel Networks, McGill University and the American University of Beirut. He grew up in war-torn Lebanon and was the first child in his family to finish a PhD degree. He started and managed for several years a student club at the American University of Beirut and run a number of fundraising activities to help his students club and the soccer club in his hometown. While in Canada, he volunteered with the UNICEF for several years. He also helped with the settlement of Syrian Families in the Durham Region. He currently runs the Cyber Ambassador Program at Ontario Tech, which is a program run at Ontario Tech with sponsorship from Sunlife to help raise awareness about cybersecurity hygiene. The program runs in 4 school boards in the Durham region. He speaks Arabic, French, and English.
